The ten major headings of the HMT can be divided into two groups. The first five major headings provide information for the HAZMAT basic description that is required on shipping papers. Then last five major headings provide specialized information necessary for packaging, marking, and labeling and specific requirements for the mode of transportation used.

  • Column 2, Hazardous Materials Descriptions and Proper Shipping Names
  • Column 3, Hazard Class or Division
