IATA Class 7 Marking Fissile Packages

Packages containing fissile material must be marked according to the requirements of its packaging type. The identification mark should contain one of the following code types: "AF," "B(U)F," "B(M)F," "CF," or "IF."

If an overpack is used and not all of the required marks are visible, the overpack must be marked with the following:

• The word "OVERPACK"
• The UN number, proper shipping name, and full name and address of the shipper and consignee
• Any special handling instructions
• Excepted packages of radioactive material must be marked with the following:
• UN number
• Full name and address of the shipper and consignee
• Permissible gross weight if the gross weight of the package exceeds 50 kg
• The requirements of 10.7.1.3.8, if relevant
• If carbon dioxide is used as a refrigerant, additional markings are required
