IATA Acceptance Checklist

Before accepting any dangerous goods package or overpack that is first accepted for carriage by air, the operator must verify specific information using the acceptance checklist, including the following:

• The documentation provided complies with the requirements of Section 8 (Subsection 10.8 for radioactive material).
• The quantity of dangerous goods stated on the Shipper's Declaration is within the acceptable limits per package.
• The marking of packages, overpacks, or freight containers is clearly visible and in accordance with the Shipper's Declaration.
• The packaging specification marking designating the packing group is appropriate to the dangerous goods contained.
• Proper shipping names, UN numbers, labels, and special handling instructions that appear on the interior package are clearly visible or reproduced on the overpack.
• Labeling of the package, overpack, or freight container complies with Subsection 7.2 (Subsection 10.7.2 for radioactive material).
• The outer packaging is the same type as listed on the accompanying dangerous goods transport document and is permitted by the applicable packing instruction.
• The package or overpack does not contain different dangerous goods that require segregation, according to Table 9.3.A.
• The package, overpack, freight container, or unit load device is not leaking and there is no indication the integrity of the package has been compromised.
• The overpack does not contain packages with a Cargo Aircraft Only label unless there is only one package in the overpack, two or more packages are assembled so that the packages are easy to access and clearly visible, or access to the packagings is not required.
