IATA Handling and Reporting

Operators are required to report dangerous goods accidents or incidents to the appropriate State authorities. Operators are also required to report any instance where an undeclared or mis-declared dangerous good is discovered in cargo, mail, baggage, or on the person of passengers or crew. These reports must be provided to the appropriate State authority where the incident occurred.

In the event of an aircraft accident or serious incident where dangerous goods may be involved, the operator must provide information to emergency services as soon as possible. This information must also be reported to the authorities of the State of the operator and the State in which the accident or incident occurred.
