IATA Regulations
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) is an international trade organization that represents approximately 230 airlines from 126 countries. It has developed commercial standards to help build the airline industry into a global one. The Dangerous Goods Regulations (also referred to as DGR or Regulations) is one set of regulations that IATA publishes.
The IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations are based on the ICAO Technical Instructions. The DGR can be considered a kind of field manual for implementing the ICAO Technical Instructions. The DGR contains all of the requirements of the ICAO Technical Instructions, along with some additional requirements, which are more restrictive. It also contains practical assistance to users based on industry standard practices or operational considerations. These differences are notated in the DGR by a pointing finger symbol (☞) in the margin next to the topic.
