IATA Shipping Lithium Batteries
Adequate instruction must be provided for anyone preparing or offering cells or batteries for transport. At a minimum, that instruction must include the following:
- Classification of the lithium batteries being shipped.
- Documentation of procedures that apply to the lithium batteries being transported.
- Written work instructions, or other documentation, including any automated controls.
- A review and understanding of documented procedures that are applicable to the job function.
- Instruction records that include the names and dates of instruction of all employees.
- Refresher instructions every two years, or as documented instructions change.
- Reverse logistics, including mode of transport and applicable prohibitions.
