Mold Remediation Safe Work Practices

When performing a remediation, it is important to follow some safe work practices to best protect yourself. These include the following:

  • Minimize the disturbance of dust to reduce the spread of spores. This can be achieved by using a light mister or other dust suppression methods.
  • Do not eat or drink in work areas.
  • Do not smoke in work areas.
  • Provide ventilation during the performance of work efforts.
  • Never mix a bleach and an ammonia cleaner. If they are combined, they can create a toxic chlorine gas.
  • Leave the work area clean and dry.
  • Clean the work egress areas with a damp cloth or mop and a detergent.
