Fit Testing Procedures-General Requirements (1910.134 Appendix A)
Another aspect of fit testing is the negative and positive pressure seal checks. You will learn about this in the coming slides. In addition to the requirements outlined in 1910.134, the employee may also conduct a seal test following procedures recommended by the manufacturer.
Remember that before conducting these negative and positive pressure checks, the employee must slowly move his or her head from side to side, then up and down. While doing so, the employee must take in several slow, deep breaths.
If the test yields a "fail," then the employee must select another facepiece and begin the test process again.
