How can an employer be sure that the program is effective? A program evaluation will help keep the program up to date. It will also ensure that any weaknesses in the program are addressed. Employers should take into consideration the results of monitoring when evaluating the program.

According to OSHA, "employers must evaluate the effectiveness of a company's respirator program regularly and modify the written operating procedure as necessary to reflect the evaluation results. A labor-management team may be effective in conducting these periodic evaluations."
